Description of the objective

As a result of a review of the regulatory framework [CL1] under the APMA conducted by the Farm Products Council of Canada (FPCC) and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), and recommendations from the Standing Joint Committee for the Scrutiny of Regulations, improvements to the APMA have been identified. These iImprovements to the APMA were put forward under Part 4 of Bill S-6, An Act respecting regulatory modernization which was under consideration during the 1st Session of the 44th Parliament but did not receive Royal Ascent prior to prorogation. Moving forward, AAFC and FPCC will examine available options for amending the APMA to streamline the delegation process and address any risks and factual issues that have accumulated over time.

Consultations are conducted with provincial commodity boards and provincial supervisory boards on an ongoing basis via email and meetings.
