Government of Canada Investment Supports Strategic Economic Planning in Bearskin Lake First Nation

June 16, 2016 – Bearskin Lake, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor

The Honourable Bob Nault, Member of Parliament for Kenora, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced a Government of Canada investment of $47,250 in Bearskin Lake First Nation to help identify and prioritize viable economic development opportunities through enhanced decision-making and planning.

The FedNor funding will be used to hire a youth intern for a one-year period to assist the remote Northwestern Ontario community with the development of an economic development strategic plan. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include assisting with the review and analysis of previous plans, community consultations, communications, and updates to business and operational plans for community enterprise initiatives.
