Coopérative du regroupement des organismes francophones de Thunder Bay Inc. (ROFTB)
$319,908

A FedNor investment of $194,508 will enable the Coopérative du regroupement des organismes francophones de Thunder Bay to renovate business space within a recently purchased building to create a regional Francophone multi-service centre. The Economic Development Initiative (EDI) funding is part of the Roadmap for Canada's Official Languages 2013-2018. FedNor's contribution will support new flooring, walls, windows, doors and electrical upgrades. Located in Thunder Bay's Waterfront Business Improvement Area, the centre will offer a variety of services in French under one roof, increase the visibility of the Francophone community, and help increase Francophone business development opportunities. The co-operative is made up of six partner organizations: The Association des Francophones du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario (AFNOO), Accueil francophone de Thunder Bay, Club Canadien Français de Thunder Bay (CCFTB), Novocentre, Centr'elles-Centre des femmes francophone du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario (CFFNOO), and  Féminin Pluri-Elles.

An additional $100,000 will support renovations to a community hall in the co-operative-owned Francophone Centre. The funding, made available through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), will help with flooring, electrical upgrades, new insulation and furnace, as well as plumbing.

The remaining $25,400, provided through the EDI, will be used to organize and launch a Francophone street festival in Thunder Bay's waterfront business district from September 23-25, 2016.

Thunder Bay Multicultural Centre
$70,000

A FedNor investment of $70,000, provided through CIP 150, will be used by the Thunder Bay Multicultural Centre to install an elevator, making the building more accessible. CIP 150, delivered by FedNor in Northern Ontario, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history.

L'Association des Francophones du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario (AFNOO)
$31,500

Thanks to an EDI investment of $31,500, the Association des Francophones du Nord-Ouest de l'Ontario will enhance its outreach activities and expand partnerships. The contribution will enable the organization to hire a youth intern for a one-year period. Among other things, the intern's duties will include creating success stories for its website, developing marketing material on available Francophone services in Northwestern Ontario, hosting economic development-related workshops, and developing strategic partnerships.
