October 13, 2016 – Cochrane, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor

Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced an infrastructure investment of $500,000 in the Town of Cochrane to help enhance economic activity throughout the region and create jobs.

The FedNor funding will enable the Town of Cochrane to establish a multi-modal transportation hub to meet the needs of private sector businesses in the area. This new facility will include the equipment and resources needed to move cargo between trucks and railway cars, which will also help reduce traffic and greenhouse gas emissions, while extending the life of existing transportation infrastructure.

The funding announced today is provided through FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation.
