Government of Canada Invests $79,000 to Expand Recreation Centre in Huron Shores

A Government of Canada investment of $79,000 will help the Municipality of Huron Shores promote healthy living with the expansion of its recreation centre. The funding will pave the way for a 742-square-foot addition that will house exercise equipment.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment. Built in 1928, the recreation centre is the only physical fitness facility in the community of Huron Shores. The new space, which will be wheelchair accessible, is expected to be completed by the end of 2017.

The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history.
