Government of Canada Invests to Improve Rink Pad in Township of Gauthier

The Government of Canada is investing $39,620 to upgrade the Township of Gauthier's rink bed by installing a concrete pad. The domed structure currently has a sand surface and is used as a hockey and skating rink. The proposed improvement would render it a multi-functional, year-round facility.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor, today announced this Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program investment. The rink draws local residents, as well as people from neighbouring communities.
The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) funding, delivered in Northern Ontario through FedNor, is part of the Government of Canada's coordinated approach to mark the 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments across Canada will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities, and celebrate Canada's rich heritage and history.
