Government of Canada Invests More Than $200,000 to Boost Manufacturing and Accelerate Growth in the Greater Sudbury Region

January 11, 2017 – Sudbury, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor

The Government of Canada is investing $203,306, through FedNor's Northern Ontario Development Program, to help Legend Boats enhance productivity and competitiveness by incorporating innovative technologies into its operations.

The repayable FedNor funding will enable Legend Boats to adopt new technologies and develop customized software applications. The targeted investment will help this local aluminum boat manufacturer improve its operational processes for information and supply chain management, distribution and boat assembly activities, as well as client services.

Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor. Once complete, this strategic initiative will help reduce boat assembly times and warranty claims by 10 percent, increase inventory turnover, enable real-time management reporting, and improve processing for warranty claims by 50 percent.
