Government of Canada Invests $270,000 to Support Economic Revitalization and Job Creation in the Township of Schreiber

June 29, 2017 - Schreiber, ON - Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

A Government of Canada investment of $270,000 is helping the Township of Schreiber hire an economic development officer (EDO) for a three-year period to implement the community’s recently completed community revitalization plan. This investment will enable the community to undertake local economic development priorities, which will help create middle-class jobs and support sustainable growth and prosperity.

The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Some key activities to be undertaken by the EDO include downtown and waterfront revitalization and beautification, re-branding and signage, as well as investment attraction and marketing. Provided through FedNor’s Community Investment Initiative for Northern Ontario, this targeted investment will help the community accelerate business development and growth, pursue and promote tourism opportunities, and create employment.
