August 14, 2017 – Dorion, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario – FedNor
The citizens of the Township of Dorion will benefit from improvements to its road network as a result of an investment of $95,000 from the Government of Canada.
The funding was announced today by the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, and Member of Parliament for Thunder Bay—Superior North, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.
These enhancements will help eliminate issues related to extreme weather and spring run-off making the local transportation infrastructure safer and more reliable. In addition to the immediate benefits to residents and businesses, the work will help improve access by tourists to key local destinations.
This infrastructure investment is being allocated under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program, a $300-million funding that was established to celebrate Canada’s 150 birthday through investments in the community spaces that bring Canadians together. Of that amount, $10.4 million is being invested across Northern Ontario.
