Local youth benefit from meaningful on-the-job experience

$31,500 from the Government of Canada to create youth employment and help boost tourism in the region

October 2, 2017 – Dorset, ON - Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

The Lake of Bays Marine Museum and Navigation Society will hire a young graduate with expertise in communications, social media, marketing and tourism to help maximize the economic potential of the museum and the S.S. Bigwin, the organization’s flagship attraction. The one-year internship is made possible through an investment of $31,500 by the Government of Canada.

The funding was announced today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Some of the intern’s responsibilities will include developing a strategic plan, updating existing programing and undertaking activities to promote cultural and eco-tourism, as well as various environmentally sustainable activities and attractions in the area.
