Investment to help Sudbury-based start-up develop cutting-edge medical device to improve patient care
November 10, 2017 – Sudbury, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor
Northern Ontario will benefit from advanced treatment options and an improved quality of life as a result of a Government of Canada investment of $200,000. The FedNor funding will enable Flosonics Medical , a local developer of non-invasive technology, to create a medical device designed to improve healthcare options for critically ill patients.
The funding was announced today by Paul Lefebvre, Member of Parliament for Sudbury, and Marc Serré, Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.
Sudbury-based Flosonics Medical will use the FedNor funding to create an Automated Fluid Response Ultrasound system that will determine whether intravenous fluids are a viable and effective treatment option for critically ill patients. In addition to supporting the research and development of the product, the investment will also assist with clinical trials and preliminary market development.

The funding announced today is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that promote sustainable community economic development, enhance business development and growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
