Government of Canada investment supports strategic upgrades to the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport
January 10, 2018 – Earlton, ON - Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor
The Earlton-Timiskaming region will benefit from middle-class jobs, business development and sustainable economic growth as a result of a Government of Canada investment of $318,000. The FedNor funding will support priority infrastructure enhancements at the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport.
The funding was announced today by Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.
The FedNor investment will support the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport Authority’s efforts to construct six cost-efficient T-hangers to meet immediate and future demand for business development and expansion, as well as aircraft storage. This investment will also be used to upgrade the runway’s lighting systems and install new fueling stations with a cardlock security system that provides patrons with safe and secure access to refueling facilities 24 hours a day.

Situated in central Temiskaming, the Earlton-Timiskaming Regional Airport is an important transportation hub for more than 35,000 residents in the District of Temiskaming. The airport connects businesses and communities in the region to national and international markets and clientele. It also serves as the regional hub for air ambulance services, connecting patients to specialized medical services not offered in the area.
