Government of Canada invests to promote the region’s mineral potential

April 10, 2018 – Cobalt, ON – Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario - FedNor

To help create jobs and accelerate business development and clean growth in Northeastern Ontario, the Government of Canada is investing $27,225 to enable the Township of Coleman to co-ordinate and host the inaugural Green Mining Conference.

The funding was announced today by Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Taking place September 12-14, 2018, in the Town of Cobalt, the Green Mining Conference will help showcase the region’s mining and mineral potential, while promoting sustainable development throughout the area. This unique event will bring together participants from the various mining segments and provide networking opportunities, tours of the area, and technical panel discussions ranging from brownfield, zero waste and green mining, as well as include a special presentation on the historic Cobalt mining camp.
