To further enhance Sault Ste. Marie’s position as a tourism destination of choice and to enhance business opportunities in the region, the Government of Canada is investing $438,000 in the Canadian Bushplane and Heritage Centre (CBHC). The investment will support the modernization of the facility by improving exhibition space, introducing new nature and insect exhibits, and renovating public areas to improve the visitor experience and increase attendance.

The funding was announced today by Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

This FedNor investment will enable the CBHC to construct exhibit development and events spaces, a production studio and control room, an archival research and program area, as well as a traveling and rotating exhibit. In addition, the project will result in the renovation of key public spaces including the front lobby, gift shop and washrooms.
