Investing in Youth to Ensure Succession Planning for Temiskaming Organizations

The Government of Canada supports a youth training and networking project to create the leaders of tomorrow

July 16, 2018 – Temiskaming Shores, ON — Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario — FedNor

The Government of Canada is investing more than $91 000 through FedNor’s Economic Development Initiative (EDI), to enhance the vitality and economic development of the Temiskaming Francophone community. This financial support will help the Temiskaming Region ACFO to pursue its “Youth in Action” project over the next three years.

Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing–Timiskaming, made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The end goal of the project is to develop youth expertise and prepare young people to become regional leaders and entrepreneurs. This will be achieved through youth awareness and training activities. They will cover a range of topics, including business and non-profit organization management, project management, governance, cooperative models, social media and communications, networking, leadership, and financial management.
