April 18, 2019 — City of Temiskaming Shores, ON — Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern Ontario — FedNor

Residents, families and businesses in New Liskeard will benefit from increased hospitality and retail spending in their region during a bilingual hockey festival the first weekend of May, thanks in part to a Government of Canada investment of $20,000 through FedNor.

The funding was announced today by Anthony Rota, Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for FedNor.

The event, scheduled May 3-5, 2019, will celebrate the Northern Ontario Hockey Association’s (NOHA) key achievements over the past century. The festival is expected to draw up to 5,000 people from the Timiskaming region and Northwestern Quebec, and enhance the region’s competitiveness through linguistic duality. The three-day program will feature a variety of activities for all ages, displays dedicated to prominent Northern Ontario hockey players and coaches, and musical entertainment.
