FedNor funding to boost economic development and help business scale up, modernize operations and expand into new markets

December 18, 2025 - Temiskaming Shores, ON – Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario – FedNor

Today, Pauline Rochefort, Parliamentary Secretary to the Secretary of State (Rural Development), and Member of Parliament for Nipissing-Timiskaming, announced FedNor funding totalling $4,929,180 for six community and business growth initiatives that will benefit Temiskaming Shores and communities throughout Northern Ontario. The announcement will be made on behalf of the Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for FedNor.

Through the FedNor’s core programs, these investments will help bring several important projects to life. One highlight is supporting the City of Temiskaming Shores as it sets up the Northern Ontario Mining Showcase (NOMS) pavilion at the 2026 Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) International Convention in Toronto (March 1-4) and the 2026 Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy & Petroleum (CIM) annual convention in Vancouver (May 3-6).

These two showcase events will help close to 150 businesses and organizations to increase sales and exports, access new markets and explore partnership opportunities.

In addition, the FedNor funding is also helping B & G Industrial Services and Mid North Recycling diversify, and expand their operations, while supporting Koch Grain Elevator plans to establish a shipping and receiving rail terminal to support the region’s agriculture industry.

The funding announced today also allowed the City of Temiskaming Shores hire a regional Economic Development Officer, and will ensure the South Temiskaming Community Futures Development Corporation can continue to provide business counseling and investment services to small and medium-sized businesses for five more years.

Together, these initiatives are driving broad economic growth across Temiskaming Shores and across Northern Ontario by strengthening communities and key sectors.
