Media advisory
Vancouver, B.C. – Officials from Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Province of British Columbia provide details regarding the significant rock slide that occurred upstream of a narrow portion of the Fraser River near Big Bar, BC creating a 5m waterfall. The obstruction raises concerns about whether salmon migrating upstream can reach their spawning grounds. The federal and provincial governments are working together with local First nations, communities and stakeholders to coordinate efforts and determine next steps.
