International Trade Minister to attend Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting in Peru

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of International Trade, will travel to Arequipa, Peru, to take part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting on Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

APEC comprises 21 members whose aim is to promote sustainable economic growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region.

The ministerial meeting is in preparation for the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in the fall and is part of Canada’s efforts to reaffirm its commitment to the multilateral trading system and advance its progressive trade agenda. 

On the margins of the ministerial meeting, the Minister will hold bilateral discussions with her counterparts to advance issues of mutual interest.
