Open invitation from Minister Dion to discuss power of inclusion and diversity

The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following invitation:
“Diversity is a fact. Inclusion is a choice—one that recognizes the benefits of diversity. Together, they create peace, stronger democracies, innovation and more vibrant cultures and societies.
“What does it mean to be inclusive? Why is inclusion important? How inclusive are we?
“I believe that diversity is strength. On September 21 in New York City, I will convene a high-level panel discussion on the power of inclusion and diversity moderated by Morris Rosenberg, President and CEO of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. Panellists will explore four interconnected themes: the economic, the social, the cultural and the civic benefits of inclusion and diversity. Following the panel discussion the participants will take part in a question-and-answer period.
“If you are in New York City, New York, on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. ET, please join me at United Nations Headquarters to exchange ideas on how we can work together. Bring your ideas, your insights, your questions and your comments.
“Even if you cannot join us for this event, I encourage you to use the hashtag #diversityisstrength on social media to tell us how the power of inclusion and diversity works in your community. Let us know how and why you choose inclusion.”
