Canada to participate in Arctic Conference

Pamela Goldsmith-Jones, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs will participate in the 2016 European Union (EU) – Canada Arctic Conference to take place in Ottawa on October 19.
The conference aims to bring together Northern stakeholders and decision-makers from both sides of the Atlantic to highlight possibilities for further cooperation between Canada and the EU on Arctic matters. This year’s conference will focus on modernisation and tradition, economic development and protection of the environment. The conference forms part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of the EU in Canada.
Participants include ambassadors from EU countries accredited to Canada, representatives from Canadian and European Indigenous organizations, academia and non-profit organizations; as well as Canadian government officials.
Parliamentary Secretary Goldsmith-Jones will deliver closing remarks outlining the significance of the EU-Canada partnership in scientific cooperation and sustainable development in the Arctic.
