Canada congratulates Colombia on ratification of revised peace agreement

The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today made the following statement on Colombia’s ratification of the revised peace agreement:

“Canada congratulates the Colombian congress on ratifying the revised peace agreement between the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia [FARC]. We commend President Juan Manuel Santos, and all Colombians, for their ongoing efforts to achieve an inclusive, sustainable and just peace. The approval of the revised peace agreement is an important step forward on the path to a lasting peace.

“The Government of Colombia and all Colombians can count on Canada’s support as they move forward in implementing this agreement.”
