Minister Dion to attend NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting to discuss global security

The Honourable Stéphane Dion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that he will attend the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Foreign Ministers Meeting from December 6 to 7, 2016, in Brussels, Belgium. The main focus of this meeting will be to advance implementation of the Warsaw Summit commitments, including working more closely with partners to address the evolving security concerns around the world.

During the NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting, Minister Dion will participate in five plenary sessions on NATO-European Union cooperation, conflict prevention on NATO’s periphery, transatlantic security issues, the situation in Ukraine and NATO’s Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.

Minister Dion will also meet with several of his counterparts to discuss Canada’s role in NATO’s enhanced forward presence in Latvia, to advance Canada’s views on global security and stability and to pursue bilateral priorities.
