International Trade Minister to attend Australia-Canada economic leaders meeting

News Release

February 17, 2017 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of International Trade, will take part in the Fifth Australia-Canada Economic Leadership Forum, February 20 to 22, 2017, in Sydney, Australia.

Led by the private sector and sponsored by the governments of Canada and Australia, the forum attracts more than 150 business and political leaders with an interest in promoting trade and cooperation between the two countries. Canada has twice hosted the forum: in 2012 in Toronto, Ontario, and in 2015 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Participating in this forum is part of the Government of Canada’s efforts to promote progressive trade and investment ties with the Asia-Pacific region, as trade is the best way to create good, well-paying jobs and foster long-term growth for the middle class in both Canada and Australia.
