The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced that she will be in Washington, D.C., on February 7 and 8, 2017.
Discussions will cover a broad range of topics, including mutually beneficial security and economic ties between Canada and the U.S.
On February 7, the Minister will hold meetings with Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator John McCain, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and Senator Bob Corker, Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The Minister will also attend an event hosted by the Embassy of Canada in honour of women newly elected to the 115th United States Congress.
On February 8, the Minister will hold a meeting with Rex Tillerson, United States Secretary of State.
Canada will continue to engage with the new U.S. administration and underline how our integrated economies drive middle class growth on both sides of the border.
