Minister Bibeau to travel to London for Family Planning Summit
July 9, 2017 - Ottawa, Canada - Global Affairs Canada
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, will travel to London from July 10 to 11, 2017, to attend the Family Planning Summit. The Minister’s participation reinforces Canada’s leadership in sexual and reproductive health and rights as part of Canada’s comprehensive approach to empowerment of women and girls and gender equality.
The Family Planning Summit brings together key partners to accelerate progress in critical family planning needs. This summit is also an opportunity to broaden and deepen the network of partners in order to scale up local actions and solutions, particularly the needs of those in humanitarian crises and adolescent girls, who are often left behind.
The Minister’s visit follows the successful conclusion of a trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo and to Ghana.
“Canada is committed to providing global leadership to support family planning and the sexual and reproductive health and rights for women and girls. The empowerment of women and girls everywhere in the world begins with their right to be in control of their bodies.”
