Canada deeply concerned by ongoing situation in Myanmar

Global Affairs Canada today issued the following statement:

“Canada is deeply concerned by today’s UNHCR report that over 123,000 refugees have fled Myanmar into Bangladesh since the beginning of violence last month.

“We call on the security forces to ensure the safety and protection of all civilians.

“Canada remains very alarmed by the allegations of serious human rights abuses by security forces against the Rohingya population.”
