Statement by Minister Bibeau on International Volunteer Day
Statements
December 5, 2017 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada
The Honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, today issued the following statement on International Volunteer Day:
“Thousands of Canadians every year volunteer their time to help people in need—in Canada and around the world.
“Canadian volunteers come from all walks of life to share their knowledge and experience.
“They do it for different reasons and in different ways, but they are all making a real difference in people’s lives. Volunteering also has the potential to change the lives of the volunteers themselves for the better.
“In 2016, Canada’s Volunteer Cooperation Program sent 1,445 Canadian volunteers to some 50 countries.”
