Statement by Minister of Foreign Affairs on plane crash in Cuba

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today issued the following statement in response to the plane crash that occurred in Cuba.
“Canada is saddened by the terrible plane crash that occurred in Cuba today. Our deepest sympathies are with those affected by this tragedy and the people of Cuba.
“Canadian consular officials are in contact with Cuban authorities to obtain further information and stand ready to provide consular assistance to Canadian citizens if needed.
“Canadians requiring emergency consular assistance should contact Global Affairs Canada’s 24/7 Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa by collect phone call at +1 613 996 8885 or by email at sos@international.gc.ca.”
