Revised: Minister of International Trade Diversification to travel to Chile for CPTPP and APEC meetings, and to France for OECD and WTO meetings

May 15, 2019 - The Honourable Jim Carr, Minister of International Trade Diversification, will travel to Chile and France to represent Canada at key strategic multilateral fora and to advance Canada’s trade diversification strategy.
He will travel to Santiago and Viña del Mar, Chile, to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) ministerial meeting and to promote the benefits of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) for Canadian businesses. He will also meet with private sector stakeholders to support increased exports of Canadian canola.
In Paris, Minister Carr will represent Canada as Vice Chair of the Ministerial Council Meeting of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). He will hold the third ministerial meeting of the Ottawa Group on the World Trade Organization (WTO) reform.
In both Chile and France, Minister Carr will host a media callback to report on the outcome of his meetings.
