Statement by Global Affairs Canada on escalation of violence in Yemen
Statement
January 29, 2020 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada
Global Affairs Canada today issued the following statement on the recent escalation of violence in Yemen:
“Canada continues to be deeply concerned with the recent escalation of violence in Yemen that has caused civilian deaths, the displacement of families, threats to security and the disruption of essential services, including humanitarian assistance.
“We also condemn the recent attack on a mosque at the al-Estiqbal camp in Marib, where soldiers had gathered for prayers. The disruption of such a solemn gathering is rooted in hatred, which cannot be tolerated.
“Canada urges all parties in Yemen to show restraint and commit to political dialogue and to de-escalate hostilities and halt the tragic loss of life.”
