Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Transport commemorate the fatal crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET302

Statement

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Honourable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today issued the following statement:

“A year ago, on March 10, Ethiopian Airlines flight ET302 crashed near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, claiming the lives of 157 people, including 18 Canadians.

“On this solemn day, we will join the international community in commemorating the loss of all those who died in the crash and offer our sincerest condolences to those who lost loved ones.

“Among the Canadians who lost their lives, there were teachers, students, volunteers, activists, environmentalists, professionals and scientists. Let us take this opportunity to reflect on each of them and the contributions they made over the course of their lives.

“On behalf of the Government of Canada, we offer our heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the victims.”
