Minister Joly meets with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Venezuelan Interim Government and co-founder of Women for Democracy in Venezuela

Yesterday, the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Isadora Zubillaga, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Venezuelan Interim Government and co-founder of Women for Democracy in Venezuela.
The ministers discussed the Women for Democracy in Venezuela Movement and women’s role in building a more inclusive society. The ministers underscored the importance of women’s meaningful participation in negotiations, which result in more sustainable solutions for an inclusive democracy and political stability in Venezuela.
Minister Joly also took the opportunity to convey Canada’s deep concern for the ongoing political, economic and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. She reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to promoting democracy and human rights in Venezuela and to working with international and regional partners to support a Venezuelan-led solution to the crisis.
