Parliamentary Secretary Sidhu to travel to Guatemala and Honduras

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that Maninder Sidhu, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will travel to Guatemala and Honduras from July 11 to 16, 2022.

During his visit, Parliamentary Secretary Sidhu will engage with human rights defenders, civil society representatives, business leaders and government officials, including the foreign ministers of Guatemala and Honduras, to discuss regional priorities. He will discuss topics such as democracy, good governance, gender equality, human rights, including in relation to Indigenous peoples. During his meetings with counterparts, he will also address sustainable and inclusive economic growth, irregular migration and forced displacement, as well as climate resilience. He will also engage with recipients and beneficiaries of projects funded by Canada through its international assistance envelope.
