In this, the first trip to the Philippines by a Canadian Cabinet minister since 2018, Minister Ng will meet with government and business leaders to advance trade and investment between Canada and the Philippines.

• The Philippines is one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia, creating significant commercial and investment opportunities for Canada.

• In 2021, Canada-Philippines bilateral merchandise trade totalled a value of $2.7 billion, up from $2.1 billion in 2020.

• Almost 1 million people of Filipino descent live in Canada. 

• The Philippines is Canada’s third-largest source of immigration and seventh-largest source of international students.
