U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken to visit Canada
October 26, 2022 - Ottawa, Ontario - Global Affairs Canada
The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs, today announced the first official visit to Canada by U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken on Thursday, October 27, and Friday, October 28, 2022.
Secretary Blinken’s visit will build on the discussions during Minister Joly’s recent visit to Washington, D.C., in September and the strong relationship between Canada and the United States at a time when the rules-based international order and democracy are threatened.
Minister Joly and Secretary Blinken will discuss the crisis in Haiti, the situation in Iran, the Arctic, the Indo-Pacific region and continued collaboration on holding Russia accountable for its illegal invasion of Ukraine.
“Canada and the United States share one of the most productive, collaborative and important relationships in the world on bilateral and global issues. Secretary Blinken’s visit gives Canada another opportunity to highlight the importance of close Canada-United States cooperation on the global stage, including in the Indo-Pacific.”
