Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development met with Raquel Buenrostro, Mexico’s Secretary of Economy, in Washington, D.C., on the margins of the North America Semiconductor Conference to discuss issues of mutual interest and cooperation between their 2 countries.

Minister Ng thanked Secretary Buenrostro for her engagement to help resolve issues related to Canadian investments in the energy sector. She also thanked her for agreeing to engage Mexican mining companies, with Canadian capital in technical consultations, as part of the process to draft the implementing regulations for the recent mining reform to help ensure they address Canada’s continued concerns with the reform.

This will be an opportunity for herself; the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry; and Secretary Buenrostro to hold the first in-person high-level economic dialogue, discuss strengthening North American competitiveness, and set common goals for the coming year.
