Secretary General of La Francophonie to visit Canada to meet with Minister Anand and Parliamentary Secretary Fortier

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, announced today that she will receive Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary General of La Francophonie, in Ottawa, Ontario, on September 26, 2025.
During her visit to Ottawa, Secretary General Mushikiwabo will meet with Minister Anand and Mona Fortier, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting will provide an opportunity to strengthen Canada’s close ties with the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) [international organization of La Francophonie] and explore ways to better advance shared priorities, including democratic governance, inclusive economic growth and the promotion of francophone culture and language. They will also discuss preparations for the upcoming Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie in Kigali, Rwanda, from November 19 to 20, and the 2026 Francophonie Summit in Cambodia. This will be Minister Anand’s first official meeting with Secretary General Mushikiwabo.
