Minister Sidhu meets with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry

Yesterday, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, met with Gan Kim Yong, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, in Singapore.

Minister Sidhu and Deputy Prime Minister Gan spoke about advancing key Canadian interests and identifying new opportunities for collaboration in sectors, such as clean energy, aerospace, AI and defence. Minister Sidhu also highlighted Canada’s cutting-edge expertise in the cybersecurity and defence sectors, driven by industry leaders such as Blackberry and CAE. The Ministers discussed how to increase two-way investment in both countries and looked forward to increasing collaboration in investment attraction.

Minister Sidhu echoed the messages delivered by Prime Minister Carney this week at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Canada’s efforts to deepen trade and economic ties with the Indo-Pacific region.
