Minister Sidhu speaks with Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Trade

Today, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, spoke with Manuel Tovar, Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Trade.

Their discussion underscored the strength and positive momentum of the Canada-Costa Rica relationship.

Minister Sidhu reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to a strong, mutually beneficial trade partnership and highlighted opportunities to deepen collaboration. In particular, the two ministers celebrated the growth in the shared trade, which surpassed $1 billion in 2024.

They also welcomed the advancement of negotiations on Costa Rica’s accession process to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Canada looks forward to continued engagement with Costa Rica to further reinforce this important relationship.
