Biographical note - Brendan Sutton
Backgrounder
Brendan Sutton (BA Hons [Economics and International Development Studies], Trent University, 2002; MA [International Relations], Norman Paterson School of International Affairs, Carleton University, 2003) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 2004. At Headquarters, he has served as director of the Consular Operations Division, where he coordinated the management of complex cases involving Canadians requiring assistance abroad, including during international crises. He has also served as an official spokesperson for the department and deputy director in the Media Relations Division, as well as deputy director in the Caribbean and Central American Division. Overseas, he has served in Moscow and, most recently, Tokyo.
