Randeep Sarai
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Veterans Affairs and Associate Minister of National Defence
Represents the riding of Surrey Centre
Randeep Sarai was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Surrey Centre in 2015, and was re-elected in 2019 and 2021. He has been a member of various parliamentary committees, associations, and groups, including Chair of the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
Born in Vancouver and raised in South Burnaby, British Columbia, Mr. Sarai is focused on improving the lives of those in his community and all Canadians, including by promoting better public transit, crime reduction, and the creation of new opportunities for people and businesses.
Mr. Sarai has been engaged in community work from a very young age, much of it learned through the examples set by his late father, with whom he helped raise funds for the fight against polio, build their local temple, and organize food drives. He is a founder and a former Director of Virsa, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting youth and families, and helped start the South Asian Community Coalition Against Youth Violence, which works to support the positive development of young people in cities including Surrey, Burnaby, and Vancouver.
Before entering politics, Mr. Sarai worked as a real estate developer and as a lawyer. He was called to the bar in 2002.
Mr. Sarai holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University. He and his wife, Sarbjeet, have three children.
