G7 GovAI Grand Challenge
Solving public sector challenges with responsible AI
How it started
As the 2025 G7 President, Canada launched the G7 GovAI Grand Challenge in Fall 2025. With support from the G7 AI network (GAIN) of AI adoption experts, this initiative was created to advance the responsible use of AI across public services worldwide.
Teams and individuals from G7 and EU countries were invited to address real public sector challenges by developing practical, scalable AI solutions that could be adopted across governments.

- support Canada’s leadership of the G7 GovAI Grand Challenge
- develop a roadmap to scale successful AI projects
- create a catalogue of open-source and shareable AI solutions for G7 countries
Supported by the GAIN, the Challenge identified potential AI solutions to help enhance the quality of public services and increase government efficiency.
