Members of the Chemicals Management Plan Science Committee
The Science Committee consists of 10 core members, who serve an initial term of up to three years and may be re-appointed for a second term. A mechanism is also in place to include ad hoc members when additional expertise is required. Members of this committee serve as knowledgeable individuals in their own right and in the best interest of Canadians. They do not represent their firms, organizations, or professional affiliations.
Core membership of the committee is as follows:
The members of this committee were recruited through an open self-nomination process and selected by Environment and Climate Change Canada and Health Canada. Selection of members was based upon areas of expertise such as environmental/biological science, chemicals management framework, weight of evidence and precaution, as well as knowledge of the chemicals industry. Priority was given to those with significant and recent relevant experience, and strong applicable academic and/or regulatory science credentials.
To be considered for appointment, applicants were required to:
- Undergo security clearance (in other words, complete the Government of Canada's Personnel Screening, Consent and Authorization Form and be cleared to the enhanced reliability level);
- Complete an Affiliations and Interests Declaration form; and
- Sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
The Call for Representation for the Science Committee was closed on April 12, 2013.
