Minister Saks:

It's National Volunteer Week.

In Canada, there are more than 20 million volunteers who help weave our communities together and contribute to making the places we live better for all of us.

I am grateful for all volunteers, for their selfless contribution of time and energy to support our communities from coast to coast to coast.

We know that volunteers support the people of Canada in a number of ways, and that includes providing help to those who need mental health or substance use support. In those difficult situations, every moment matters.

Volunteers are giving their time to help others know that they matter, and that people care about them.

Across the country, they give selflessly to help support their friends and neighbours, and their broader communities. They often give up their evenings, weekends and holidays to help others.

Thank you to all volunteers supporting Canadians and our communities in so many ways each and every day.
