Inauguration of Belle-Vue Recreation Centre
Saint-Félicien, June 21, 2016
Philippe Couillard, Premier of Québec, Minister Responsible for the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean Region, and Member of the National Assembly for Roberval, took part today in the inauguration of the Belle-Vue Recreation Centre. This renewed infrastructure is part of the initial Belle-Vue Marina redevelopment and municipal wharf repair project inaugurated in June 2015.
This project received government assistance totaling $176,668 from the Communities Component of the Building Canada Fund–Quebec, split equally between the governments of Canada and Quebec. The City of Saint-Félicien contributed $88,334 to this project.
Built in the 1970s, the Belle-Vue Recreation Centre required major renovations. The funding made it possible to upgrade the community room on the second floor and the six courts on the ground floor for bocce ball, a very popular game for residents of Saint-Félicien. Work was also done on the building exterior—including the veranda and roof—the walls were refinished and insulated, and the main entrance space was reconfigured.
