Inauguration of Bellerive Road in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande

Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande, Quebec - September 26, 2016

Residents of the Municipality of Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande now benefit from the improvements made to Bellerive Road, thanks to joint financing from the governments of Canada and Quebec. This initiative will help to improve the residents' quality of life and sustain the region's economic growth for years to come.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, as well as Jean D'Amour, Minister for Maritime Affairs, Minister responsible for the Bas-Saint-Laurent region and Member for Rivière-du-Loup–Témiscouata, on behalf of Martin Coiteux, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Minister of Public Safety and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, highlighted the inauguration of the new Bellerive Road in the Municipality of Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande, together with Mayor Jean-Marc Belzile.

The road infrastructure work consisted mainly of the rehabilitation of the Bellerive Road in Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande. This work had a total estimated cost of $426,459, which was funded through the federal Gas Tax Fund and a contribution from the Government of Quebec.

A total contribution of $498,279 was granted to the Municipality of Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande for infrastructure projects, for the period spanning from 2014 to 2018. This amount, funded by the federal Gas Tax Fund and a contribution from the Government of Quebec, is broken down as follows:

  • Federal government share: $352,782
  • Quebec government share: $145,497
