Unveiling of new cabaret theatre in Sainte-Thérèse

Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec - September 22, 2016

The residents of Sainte-Thérèse and the Laurentides region have a new cabaret theatre thanks to joint funding from the governments of Canada and Quebec. This initiative will help enhance residents' quality of life and help grow the regional economy for years to come.

The Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Christine St-Pierre, the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie and Minister responsible for the Laurentides region, on behalf of Martin Coiteux, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Minister of Public Security, and Minister responsible for the Montréal region, today highlighted the official unveiling of the new cultural building.

Sainte-Thérèse's new cabaret theatre includes a professional hall that meets the modern-day expectations of audiences and artists alike in terms of accessibility, acoustics, backstage facilities and technical equipment. The City has assigned management of the hall's activities to Odyscène Inc., a not-for-profit organization whose mission it is to support and defend the development of performing arts in the RCM of Thérèse-De Blainville.

The City of Sainte-Thérèse received a total of $1 538 000 in government funding to carry out this cabaret theatre project, financed through the Federal Gas Tax Fund and the Government of Quebec.

Both ministers reiterated the significant contribution made to the City of Sainte-Thérèse for a number of infrastructure projects, totalling $7 688 803. This amount, funded through the Federal Gas Tax Fund and a contribution from the Government of Quebec, is broken down as follows:

  • Federal: $5 443 672
  • Quebec: $2 245 130
