Major water infrastructure work in East Broughton

East Broughton, November 7, 2016

The community of East Broughton is enjoying the benefits of new water infrastructure thanks to joint funding by the governments of Canada and Quebec. These enhancements will help improve the quality of life of residents and promote sustainable development and prosperity for the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Louis-Hébert, Joël Lightbound, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Electrification of Transportation and Member of the National Assembly for Lotbinière-Frontenac, Laurent Lessard, on behalf of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Use, Minister of Public Safety and Minister responsible for the Montreal Region, Martin Coiteux, marked the completion of the first stage of work by announcing $1,165,700 in joint funding for the municipality of East Broughton for this project.

The project entailed the replacement water supply, wastewater and storm drain mains under several streets, among them Avenue Notre Dame, Rue Pelletier and Rue Principale. It also included road repairs and site restoration. The result of the work for East Broughton is nearly 800 metres of renovated mains.

The Governments of Canada and Quebec each provided $582,850 through the Small Communities Fund of the New Building Canada Fund, Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure component.
