Ottawa, Ontario—Members of the media are invited to the announcement of the winners of the Smart Cities Challenge, a nationwide competition that encourages communities of all sizes to harness the potential of connected technology and data to improve the lives of Canadians. Four winners, out of 20 finalists, will be chosen to win prizes of $50 million, $10 million and $5 million.

Time:
1 p.m. – 4 p.m. (EST) Members of the media are invited to meet and interview the finalists of the Smart Cities Challenge as they showcase their project proposals and their visions.
4 p.m. (EST) Announcement of winners by the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Canada’s Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and his Parliamentary Secretary Marco Mendicino. Interviews with the winners and the Minister of will take place after the announcement in Canada Room 2.
